Event bridges borders with innovation, cooperation

By Yuan Shenggao

At the 137th Canton Fair, exhibitors and purchasers from various countries and regions, each with diverse language and cultural backgrounds, have gathered together to partake in this international trade feast.

South American buyers savor the taste of new chili sauces, while Southeast Asian purchasers hold custom keychains as they inquire about the manufacturing process. European buyers navigate between booths for comparisons, and Middle Eastern buyers engage in detailed discussions with exhibitors regarding the technical specifications of intelligent massage chairs.

This fair has attracted buyers from 219 countries and regions, setting a new record and demonstrating the strong vitality of international economic and trade cooperation.

In the luggage exhibition area, Zhejiang Bubule Luggage staff demonstrated the “stand-up access” feature of their double-sided fully open suitcase. A Malaysian buyer praised the design, stating that: “This innovation solves a significant travel inconvenience for us.”

In the increasingly complex international trade landscape, Chinese enterprises at the Canton Fair have displayed remarkable resilience in their development. A representative from Linghang Food (Shandong) emphasized their focus on responsiveness to market demands rather than competing solely on price.

Despite facing stiff competition from Japanese and South Korean brands, the company has secured a strong position in the market through customized and differentiated strategies, adjusting their products to suit various market demands. A Russian buyer noted that this flexibility adds a personal touch to the supply chain.

Furthermore, exhibitors have outlined clear strategies for future growth. They plan to utilize offline exhibitions like the Canton Fair to explore new markets and engage with potential customers. Online, they will implement targeted marketing on local search engines, social platforms, and e-commerce websites tailored to the specific characteristics of different overseas markets.

Some enterprises have established overseas warehouses to streamline logistics, while others have formed localized teams to navigate cultural differences effectively. After perusing a stack of business cards collected at the Canton Fair, a seasoned foreign trade professional noted that the diverse contact information from places like Mexico, Dubai, and Egypt serves as a gateway for enterprises to access global markets directly.

The Canton Fair has always been a vibrant reflection of China’s commitment to sharing development opportunities with the world. The spirit of openness and innovative thinking permeating the exhibition hall paints a new picture of global trade characterized by mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
